Welcome to Radiantly Brave

How Did We Get Here?

“We should start a vlog or something.”

“How about a podcast?”

And so a year and a half later Radiantly Brave was born.

Radiantly Brave was birthed out of many friend-to-friend conversations, heart-dreams, and whispered future plans. After months and months of stirring and yearning, the idea for Radiantly Brave was finally formed out of a hunger to create a space to spur on other women to pursue bravery in Christ.

It is our deepest hope that Radiantly Brave can serve as a community that points you towards light and fearlessness, while helping you to flourish in whatever season you may currently be in. Our team consists of teachers, wives, moms, writers, daughters, mentors, sisters, dreamers, and creators. We pray that with our unique perspectives and experiences, you are able to resonate with us, while feeling safe, welcome, and known.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise- In God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” -Psalm 56:3-4

What does it mean to be Radiantly Brave?

If you flip through the pages of a dusty, old dictionary and find the word “brave” the definition to follow will be something like, “having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty: having or showing courage.”

“Strength to face danger”.

“Showing courage.”

Sounds like a superhero to me. Can the average woman even possess these qualities?

The short answer is no. That response may sound sort of pessimistic and altogether shocking, considering you thought this was a movement to encourage, empower, and inspire women.

Before I tell you what Radiantly Brave is, let me first tell you what it isn’t.

Radiantly Brave is not a campaign intended to make women feel as if they are naturally courageous, strong, or fearless.  It is not a movement in which we’ll shout from the rooftops that women are powerful, mighty, and capable. We won’t tell you to get out a flashlight and search deep within yourself to uncover the bravery that is looming beneath the shadows.

It is our deepest hope, at Radiantly Brave, to share untainted truth with you and here is the truth:

You are not strong apart from Christ. You are not courageous apart from Christ. You are not fearless apart from Christ. You are not powerful apart from Christ. You are not mighty apart from Christ.  You are not capable apart from Christ.

Through Christ alone you are brave.

Bravery apart from Christ is dead.

Radiance apart from Christ is dull.

“The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? “- Psalm 27:1

When the Lord becomes your stronghold, your light, and your salvation, then and only  then does the fear wash away and bravery take root in your heart.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”- Joshua 1:9

The absence of fear and the presence of courage is solely based on your ability to welcome God to walk with you wherever you go, not on your ability to muster up power from within yourself.

Welcome to this journey to be Radiantly Brave. This is a raw and real and humble journey where we’ll all grow and learn together, while we continuously strive to point one another back to Christ.

Christ is at the beginning and the end of this journey. He is with us in the depths and the trenches as we seek Him. He alone calms the holocaust in our hearts as we desperately turn back to Him over and over again. He alone quenches the ravenous thirst in our souls.

We dedicate this journey to Him.

Wife to Simon and mama to Theodore Samuel. Hannah began her walk with Christ at age 17 and He is radically reshaping her world daily. She find so much joy in coffee cup conversations with other women at her home, serving alongside her husband at our church’s middle/high school youth group, exploring new cities, cozy days with a book, decorating/reorganizing, filling journals with brightly-colored pens, hand-writing notes on pretty stationary and time at the beach.
